About our pastor. Rev. Amy Cook
We are pleased to welcome our Pastor, Amy Jo Cook, to our Church Family. She comes to us from Trinity United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge, TN. Amy grew up in Georgetown, KY, where her parents, James & Peggy Cook still reside. Her brother, Jim, and his wife and 4 year-old daughter, Callie, live near her parents. Favorite Auntie Amy admits to spoiling Callie. To quote Amy regarding her formative years: “I grew up free-range. Tobacco and beef cattle farm. Gravel road, hauled and rain water, Fisher stove for heat and windows for cooling. We generally knew supper by a first name basis and grew a lot of what we ate.” After graduating from Scott County High School, she entered Eastern Kentucky University. She was the first in the Cook family to graduate college and did so with honors. Her Masters of Divinity was completed at Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, KY.
Her ministry thus far:
• She enjoys creating and growing ministries
to the local community and worldwide
awareness of ministry opportunities.
This is one reason the cabinet considered
Amy for WOUM. Some examples
of this are:
• A senior adult ministry to the community
• Outreach and educational program for
special needs women in their 20’s
• Support to troops in Iraq which included
local high-risk children in the
community making cards and sending
care packages
• The local veterans and church groups
got involved and sent thousands in
supplies to our friends in Iraq.
• Church attendance from local community
grew due to community outreach
programs.
• In pulpit ministry for 6 years.
Amy’s beloved companion in the parsonage
is Watson Wesley, her 4 year-old miniature
Schnauzer.
