What is Lent? 02/18/2010
![]() Lent is a season of soul-searching and repentance. It is a season for reflection and taking stock. Lent originated in the very earliest days of the Church as a preparatory time for Easter, when the faithful rededicated themselves and when converts were instructed in the faith and prepared for baptism. By observing the forty days of Lent, the individual Christian imitates Jesus’ withdrawal into the wilderness for forty days. All churches that have a continuous history extending before AD 1500 observe Lent. The ancient church that wrote, collected, canonized, and propagated the New Testament also observed Lent, believing it to be a commandment from the apostles. Borrowed from the Rev. Join us as our pastor Rev. Amy Cook speaks on "The Throw Down". The scripture lesson comes from Luke 4:1-13. Holy Communion will be served as well. ![]() There will be a very unexpected and unusual worship service with a twist in our worship this Sunday at 10:45 AM. Come see what God can do if we let him. This is a great worship experience where we will know God is in the unexpected things of life. In the spirit of this service wear something that no one would expect you to wear to church, fun but appropriate please (example a Tennessee fan wearing a Alabama t-shirt or your best track suit with sneakers). It will be fun and this is a great opportunity to invite friends to experience this "twisted" worship service. Worship for Sunday, February 7, 2010 02/07/2010
