![]() Are you new to the faith or, perhaps, did you daydream through Sunday school? Need a refresher course? If so, we need you! On July 4th, a new Sunday school class will be forming to help introduce Bible basics to those who either have never experienced our well-loved Faith stories or would appreciate a refresher course. This six session circle is open to adults of all ages and stages in their faith journey. We will begin with the most basic Bible question: What is this book and where did it come from? Our pastor, Rev. Amy J. Cook, will be facilitating. Come as you are and as you may. If you need more encouragement... chocolate will be provided! I hope you see you at 9:45AM on Sunday! Christ be with you, Pastor Amy" What is Lent? 02/18/2010
![]() Lent is a season of soul-searching and repentance. It is a season for reflection and taking stock. Lent originated in the very earliest days of the Church as a preparatory time for Easter, when the faithful rededicated themselves and when converts were instructed in the faith and prepared for baptism. By observing the forty days of Lent, the individual Christian imitates Jesus’ withdrawal into the wilderness for forty days. All churches that have a continuous history extending before AD 1500 observe Lent. The ancient church that wrote, collected, canonized, and propagated the New Testament also observed Lent, believing it to be a commandment from the apostles. Borrowed from the Rev. ![]() TAIZÉ MEDITATION is a simple and beautiful service that offers the opportunity for quiet, personal meditation in the context of song and word. It is a time for reflection, for reconciliation, for centering and for prayer. Rev. Amy invites everyone to join her for 30 minutes of fellowship before Sunday School on 12/13 and 12/20. The taize meditation will be held in the Fellowship Hall on 12/13. The 12/20 location will be announced. |
